Our gratitude
We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the homeroom teacher, Mr. Long, who supported us during the classroom observation session, as well as Ms. Giang, who attended and assessed our micro-teaching session. Her constructive feedback and professional insights helped us reflect more critically on our teaching performance, especially in terms of lesson pacing, instructional delivery, and classroom interaction. Their enthusiasm, support, and willingness to create favorable conditions contributed greatly to the smooth implementation of all practicum activities.
Our Group Reflection
The practicum trip to Nha Trang was a meaningful and well-structured experience that combined academic activities with cultural exploration. Throughout the four days, our group had the opportunity to engage in various learning experiences that contributed to both our professional development and group cohesion.
On April 12th, the group arrived in Nha Trang and visited several well-known tourist attractions, including the Institute of Oceanography, Po Nagar Temple, Mountain Church and checked in at Tram Huong Tower. These visits not only allowed us to explore the cultural and historical aspects of the city but also helped strengthen group bonding in a relaxed and informal setting.
On April 13th, in the morning, we visited the Faculty of Fundamental Studies and Foreign Languages at the Naval Academy. During this session, we were introduced to the Faculty’s vision, mission, functions and personnel. This provided us with valuable insights into the role of English language education in a military context and how it supports cadets’ academic and professional development. In the afternoon, we attended a workshop featuring presentations by MA students from HCMUSSH and lecturers from the Naval Academy. Although we participated as audience members, the workshop was highly engaging and offered a valuable opportunity to learn from different teaching and research perspectives, as well as to exchange ideas within a broader academic community.
On April 14th, the morning was dedicated to group preparation for the seminar. Our group worked intensively to revise and finalize our presentation on the topic of Vocabulary Learning Strategies. In the afternoon, we delivered our seminar to the cadets. Despite initial challenges in understanding the task requirements, with guidance from our instructor, we were able to adjust our content and approach. The seminar was well-received and the cadets showed interest in the strategies presented, which encouraged us and reflected the effectiveness of our preparation.
On April 15th, the most important activity took place in the morning, which was the micro-teaching session. This was a valuable opportunity for us to apply theoretical knowledge in a real teaching context. Although we encountered minor technical issues, the lesson was successfully carried out with support from our instructors.
In the afternoon, we had the honor of visiting the Lê Quý Đôn (HQ-286), which was a memorable and meaningful experience. In the evening, the program concluded with a gala night, creating a joyful atmosphere and strengthening the connection among all participants.
Overall, the practicum was an enriching experience for our group. It not only helped us develop important academic and professional skills through seminars and micro-teaching but also provided opportunities for cultural understanding and group bonding. The combination of structured academic activities and meaningful experiences made the trip both productive and memorable for all members of the group.
